From there, the adventure kicks into high gear at the headwaters of the New River, where you’ll paddle through exciting Class II rapids—perfect for developing whitewater skills in a stunning natural setting.

The final phase takes things even further: venture underground to explore a wild cave in Tennessee, then head to West Virginia for an unforgettable rafting experience on the Lower New River. Along the way, keep an eye out for incredible wildlife, including bald eagles soaring overhead and playful river otters along the banks.

Kick things off with a relaxing day at Mauch Chunk Lake, where campers can cruise the water on stand-up paddleboards and kayaks, soaking in the mountain views. Journey into New Jersey and rock climb in the Delaware Water Gap. Next, head into the Poconos for a fun mountain bike ride. The highlight of the trip? An exhilarating whitewater rafting journey on the iconic Lehigh River, where teamwork and adrenaline go hand in hand.

Campers will unwind each evening at a local campground, sharing stories and building friendships. One night, the group will explore the charming town of Jim Thorpe, browsing local shops and picking up unique souvenirs—so don’t forget to bring a little spending money.

Experience the ultimate adventure by exploring two of the country’s most iconic outdoor destinations: the Red River Gorge in Kentucky and the New River Gorge in West Virginia.

In phase one, campers will head to Slade, Kentucky, where they’ll hike scenic trails, tackle world-class rock climbing routes, soar over the gorge by zip-line and even try stand-up paddleboarding inside a stunning underground cave.

The journey then continues to West Virginia for an action-packed finale at the New River Gorge. There, campers will enjoy another day of climbing before taking on the thrill of whitewater rafting along the New River—ending the trip on an unforgettable high note.

This classic West Virginia adventure is where it all began—back when the program was part of Camp Fitch! Campers will enjoy a “glamping” experience at ACE Adventure Resort, staying in comfortable tents with added amenities. During their stay, they’ll take on two days of exciting whitewater rafting, climb and walk beneath the iconic New River Bridge on a guided historical tour, and take in the stunning surroundings. Bonus activities include ziplining (250-pound weight limit) and time to relax and play at the resort’s lake, making this trip the perfect blend of adventure and fun.

*Note that youth ages 10 and 11 will paddle the same section of river both days. 12+ will raft the lower portion of the New River for their second day of whitewater.
